Day 8 of Iran-Israel War: Missiles, Civilian Toll, and Global Tensions Rise
Posted by: DailyBrill Teams
As the Iran-Israel conflict rages into its eighth consecutive day, both military escalation and global diplomatic fallout are intensifying. Friday marked a turning point, with both countries ramping up direct strikes and expanding targets, while world powers scramble to prevent a broader regional war.
⚔️ Overnight Strikes and Counterattacks
The Israeli military launched a major offensive overnight, striking multiple locations inside Iran including the Organisation of Defensive Innovation and Research in Tehran, missile production hubs, and surface-to-air missile batteries. Iran's Revolutionary Guard confirmed that this is the 17th wave of Iranian missile attacks on Israeli military installations including bases in Negev, Hatzerim, and Beersheba.
Israeli Defence Minister ordered the targeting of what he called the "mechanisms of oppression" within Tehran, while Iranian state media boasted of using long-range ultra-heavy missiles. Israel claims to have eliminated an IRGC commander during the operation, while Iran responded with high-precision strikes reaching Tel Aviv and Haifa.
💥 Civilian Toll and Infrastructure Damage
The impact on civilian life has been devastating. Israel's bombing of Tehran reportedly killed a nuclear scientist and damaged an industrial carbon fibre plant. Iranian media noted at least five civilians were injured when a five-storey building housing a bakery and salon was struck.
Meanwhile, Iran’s health ministry confirmed that three hospitals in Tehran have now suffered direct damage. Israeli authorities also reported 17 injured civilians, three of them in serious condition.
🌐 Global Reactions and Political Shockwaves
In Washington, U.S. President Donald Trump openly contradicted his own intelligence agency, declaring Iran is actively building nuclear weapons. His stance has raised alarms across diplomatic circles.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the only path to ceasefire lies in an end to Israeli airstrikes. Russian President Putin, while warning of dire consequences, offered to mediate alongside other regional players.
France, the UK, Germany, and the EU all expressed concern over civilian casualties. The UN Security Council convened urgently, where IAEA Director Rafael Grossi warned against targeting nuclear infrastructure, calling a hit on Bushehr nuclear plant a potential disaster.
📣 Rising Protest Movements
Massive anti-Israel protests erupted in Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq. In London, pro-Palestinian activists breached a military airbase, while in Baghdad’s Sadr City, thousands rallied against U.S. and Israeli actions. In Europe, multiple countries have begun evacuating or temporarily closing embassies in Tehran.
